Aquatic ecology, linkages between community and ecosystem ecology, biogeography

Picture

My lab group focuses on freshwater aquatic ecology with interests in community and ecosystem level response of primary producers in rivers and lakes. This research focuses on two areas: biological interactions and responses of primary producers (and increasingly, more foodweb-based response)  in aquatic ecosystems, and biogeography and systematics of micro-organisms. I use diatoms as powerful and sensitive bioindicators of local-, regional-, and landscape-scale change; increasingly, these organisms are used to predict and examine effects of natural and anthropogenic disturbance.

NEWS!
